City Office
The Norton City Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and employs 5 employees: City Administrator, James Moreau; City Clerk, Darla Ellis; Utility Billing Clerk, Patty Rowh; Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk, Kim Gallentine; and Clerk II, Vicki Fisher. The City Office is responsible for maintaining records of the City, including but not limited to financial and accounting records, payroll records, utility records, cemetery records, Ordinances, Resolutions, the City Code, City Council meeting minutes, various permits and licenses.
The City provides Electric, Water, Sewer and Solid Waste services. Utility Services are applied for and processed by the City Office at 301 E. Washington Street. An Application for Utility Services must be filled out prior to obtaining utility services; A customer deposit of $200.00 ($150 Electric Deposit + $50 Water Deposit) and a $10 Customer Fee must be paid when applying for utility services.
All waste shall be placed in structurally sound containers, not exceeding 35 gallons, and placed at the adjacent street. Containers shall be put out by 8 a.m. on the day designated for pickup. The City picks up household trash once a week (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday). During the summer, yard waste is also picked up (Wednesday afternoon or Thursday). Yard waste is leaves, grass and non-woody garden waste only, and must be placed in structurally sound containers (35 gallon or less) and cannot be put in plastic bags. The City will not pick up tree limbs, brush and shrubs. The City also has a Recycling Program; recyclables are picked up every Friday. Put recyclables in a clear or blue plastic bag (13 to 35 gallon) and put out at the curb. All recyclables except paper can be put in the same see-through bag. DO NOT use a black trash bag for recyclables.
